Warehousing Systems
Wightsys were asked to look at improving an existing warehousing system processing 3000 multi-line orders a day. After working with the client, Wightsys realised that the order taking and processing parts of the existing systems worked perfectly fine but the picking and despatching process was clumsy.
In addition, orders were despatched by a 3rd party carrier which necessitated staff re-keying order details to produce carrier bar-code labels/manifests etc.
Solution
Wightsys worked with the client to work out the most efficient processes and systems. The biggest change was to separate single and multi line orders into different processes. By producing a carrier label as part of the order paperwork, single items could be despatched straight from an issue face.

- Need for re-keying data into carrier system removed saving further 3 staff.
- Carrier information received back into system allowed end to end order visibility via web portal.
